Stock News Today: Ashok Leyland’s Electric Light Trucks Garner 10,000 Bookings Ahead of Q4 Launch

Stock News Today: Bookings for Ashok Leyland’s electric light trucks reach 10,000 ahead of their Q4 launch

  • Ashok Leyland, a leading commercial vehicle maker, has recently introduced its highly anticipated IeV series of electric light commercial vehicles (e‑LCVs), marking a significant stride in the realm of sustainable transportation.
  • Anticipation and excitement surround the upcoming launch of the electric LCVs, scheduled for the fourth quarter of this financial year, according to Dheeraj Hinduja, the Executive Chairman of Ashok Leyland. Initial market feedback suggests a strong interest from customers, reflecting a robust order book with over 10,000 vehicles already booked.
  • The electric vehicles are developed under the banner of Switch Mobility, the dedicated electric vehicle division of Ashok Leyland. The unveiling of the IEV3 & 4 models took place in Chennai, showcasing the company’s commitment to eco-friendly solutions for last-mile transportation needs.
  • The “twin brothers” in the IeV series, namely the IeV 3 and IeV 4, are strategically designed with a 330 V high voltage EV architecture, positioned within the 2–3.5 tonne commercial vehicle category. These vehicles are not just technologically advanced but are also environmentally conscious, contributing to the global shift towards greener transportation solutions.
  • With a cargo body extending up to an impressive 9.7 feet, these electric LCVs offer practicality without compromising on efficiency. Notably, they are capable of accommodating a container of 340 cubic feet, underlining their versatility for various transportation needs.
  • The project’s financial commitment is noteworthy, with a cost of about Rs 100 crore dedicated to the development of the IEV3 & 4 models. The production of these electric vehicles will take place at Ashok Leyland’s Hosur facility, emphasizing the company’s commitment to local manufacturing and contributing to the growth of the electric vehicle ecosystem in the region.
  • This ambitious foray into electric LCVs underscores Ashok Leyland’s dedication to innovation, sustainability, and meeting the evolving demands of the market. As the automotive industry undergoes a transformative shift towards electric mobility, Ashok Leyland’s strides in this direction position it as a key player in shaping the future of commercial electric vehicles.
